My professional goal is to provide every client with a practical, comprehensive, and customized estate plan.
I developed a strong work ethic and lifelong love of the outdoors growing up in Michigan during the 1960s and 70s. My special needs brother and I had the great good fortune to be raised by an incredible mother who taught us the importance of hard work and the value of education by example, earning two Master’s degrees while working full time and raising a family on her own.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, I worked in the newspaper business, helped manage a manufacturing business in New Zealand, became a paralegal, and owned several small businesses. During law school, I was an assistant editor on my school’s law review, became a published legal scholar, worked for an elderlaw clinic, and graduated with honors. Years later, I earned a second law degree, a Master of Laws in Taxation.
Over the past 15 years, I have represented individuals and businesses throughout California in both litigation and transactional matters. I devote significant resources to making sure that I stay current with all aspects of federal and state law pertaining to estate planning.
In addition to all California state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, I am admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. I am a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Estate Planning and Tax sections of the California State Bar, and WealthCounsel, a consortium of estate planning attorneys from across the country.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, sailing, gardening, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends. My partner, a professional photographer, and I live in North Park with our cat Quinn and dog Stella, who is currently in training to become a certified therapy dog.
